Hello, I'm the developer of the storefront and the storefront leaderboards (photographer, designer, tuner, graphic artist, and director) and I'd like to explain to you how they work.

If you have any questions/concerns, please read on to understand how they work first. I'm happy to respond to any thoughtful comments/questions about these.

This is pretty much a verbatim copy of one of my previous posts but given the amount of questions/concerns about those leaderboards I thought it warrants further distribution:

Ratings do not factor into it, it's only sales.

The storefront boards are meant to provide, at a glance, who the "hot" content creators are in the game at the moment. Your score isn't going to go down the drain in 8 hours like someone above suggests, but it does keep decreasing over time *unless* you put up something else that's good/better.
If it didn't decay over time you'd get the same thing you see in the Most Downloaded section in the storefront, a couple of people who got there early and simply can not be taken down.

Scores are calculated for every file and your best (current) out of those is your score. This means that you can take down older tunes and your score will remain as long as you don't take down the 1 tune that has your best score. Even though it's not explicit which one that is, it's usually the one with the most sales. So to keep your score just keep your best selling file up there, it's not that hard when you're given multiple slots.

After 20 days a given file's score will stop decreasing and will remain steady from there.
Again, this is meant so that every time you post a new file you have a legit chance at reaching the top of the board, the last thing we want is for those boards to go stale just because 10 people sold thousands of copies of a file when the game first came out and 6 months later no one can touch those sales numbers.

Note that only your best file counts for your score, this is so you can rotate things in and out of your storefront without worrying about your score going down. If all your files counted towards your score everyone will be stuck when they can't remove a file with sales to replace with another for fear of going down the leaderboard ranks.

If you want to get to the top of the boards, release a good file that sells a lot. It's as simple as that. If you want to stay at the top, keep releasing the good tunes. You simply can't sell 1 good tune and stay on top of the board forever.

If you read all of the above and still have any complaints, I'd love to hear them. I did spend considerable thought and effort into making those boards what they are today, so I'd love to hear why you think I'm an idiot/lazy/stupid dev.
