Fallout: New Vegas

The sequel to Fallout 3, the 2008 Game Of The Year no less, is finally here. Fallout: New Vegas hits UK shelves on 22nd October 2010

The long awaited game has already released in the US, causing a bit of a storm after gamers reported a ton of bugs within the game. The development team have confirmed they are working hard on a patch to rectify the problems as soon as they can – the worry is that this seesm to be the way gaming is going these days.

Nearly every recent release has shipped with incredible bugs that should have been picked up in testing – It seems that software houses know that the game will still sell on release schedule and that they CAN offer a patch. Surely what gamers want is final product, not a beta release?

Comment below and let us know what you think about the current state of releases, F1 2010, Medal Of Honor and now Fallout have suffered the buggy fate…..

With all that said, Fallout: NV promises to follow up on its GOTY relative and will surely be too big a name to have a few release problems affect the predicted top of the charts, backed up with a TOP 9/10 review from IGN

The UK TV ad has been been aired a few times now, see below if you have missed it so far…..

    To get things rolling.

This new attitude to releases is starting to grind. So many games these days are released on the announced date, but are shipped to store bearing too many bugs.

These are not bugs that could have been missed, but stare-in-the-face howlers that any tester worth his salt should detect.

F12010 release with 2 major problems: Pitting means that the whole AI field also pit, the proceed to exit before you can – putting you from first to last in one foul hit. Online game mode of Pole Position ( hit the fastest lap) is ruined due to many players being awarded their Sector 2 split time as the complete lap – totally negating any desire to play this mode – this also affects Quali sessions in GP lobbies too….

Medal Of Honor suffered badly from first night server nerves, but even when it settled, the team allocation with friends is causing problems – with the lack of public lobbies, the game appears to be short lived….

With Online gaming becoming the Norm, is seems bugs are now an “accepted” part of development release, as the software companies know that a patch can address most problems.

The only way to stop this is not to buy until post release reviews and forum feedback starts, but this is a catch 22, because if we don’t buy, we don’t know…..

More and more the industry is being swayed by the need for a fast buck, rather than the desire to produce quality code.
